A stylish and modern holiday home directly on the water, with its own 11-metre private jetty, a sunny south-facing garden and everything you need for a relaxing holiday in Friesland.

Welcome to Lemstergeluk, our personal holiday home at Brekkense Wiel 211 in Lemmer. The name perfectly describes what this place means to us: a place to slow down, relax and rediscover our love for Friesland.

We are two sisters who grew up in Friesland. Later, we moved to the western part of the Netherlands, but Friesland never really left us. After more than 30 years, our love for our home region brought us back. The peace, water, space and friendly atmosphere of Lemmer still feel like coming home to us. We are delighted to share that feeling with our guests.

In 2023, the house was completely renovated and modernised. The new flooring, kitchen, toilet and bathroom provide modern comfort, while the warm and welcoming character of the house has been carefully preserved.

Comfortable living and relaxing

Lemstergeluk accommodates up to six guests and is ideal for families, friends or a relaxing holiday together.

The cosy living room features two original Gelderland sofas, perfect for relaxing after a day on the water, a bike ride or a walk through Friesland. On cooler evenings, the wood-burning stove adds warmth and atmosphere.

For relaxed evenings indoors, there is a new LG Smart TV with a swivelling arm, allowing you to watch comfortably from different areas of the living room. A wide range of Dutch, German and English channels is available.

You can also use Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Viaplay with your own account.

The two Sonos speakers allow you to play your favourite music or Spotify playlist.

A fully equipped kitchen

The modern kitchen has everything you need. Whether you are preparing a leisurely breakfast or cooking dinner after a day on the water, you will find everything close at hand.

The kitchen includes:

• a large dishwasher

• combination microwave oven

• extractor hood

• refrigerator with two freezer compartments

• kettle

• premium Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother

• good-quality sharp kitchen knives

• a wide selection of herbs and spices

The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, making the house particularly convenient for longer stays.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

Three bedrooms and a modern bathroom

There are three bedrooms on the first floor.

The two larger bedrooms feature comfortable Avek box-spring beds measuring 180 × 210 cm. The smaller third bedroom has a bunk bed and is particularly suitable for children, although adults can of course use it too.

All bedrooms have blackout curtains, blinds and insect screens, helping you enjoy a peaceful night's sleep.

The modern bathroom features a spacious rain shower and a toilet with a bidet function.

Sunny garden directly on the water

One of the highlights of Lemstergeluk is its unique location directly on the water. The garden is south-facing, allowing you to enjoy sunshine for most of the day.

The spacious terrace has a large wooden table with six chairs, comfortable seat cushions, a large parasol and a sun awning.

There is also a comfortable lounge area for four and a sun lounger.

For relaxed summer evenings, a large Weber Genesis gas barbecue is available for you to use during your stay.

And sometimes the best moments are the simplest ones: enjoying a morning coffee beside the water, reading a book in the sunshine or having a drink while watching the boats pass by.

Your own 11-metre private jetty

Here, the water literally starts at your back door.

A private 11-metre jetty runs directly alongside the garden. If you rent a boat in Lemmer, you can moor it right outside the holiday home throughout your stay.

You do not need a boat to enjoy the water, either. The storage shed contains two SUP boards and an inflatable canoe, which you are welcome to use free of charge.

There is also a swim ladder at the jetty, allowing you to take a refreshing dip directly from your own garden on warm days.

Discover Friesland from the water

From the Brekkense Wiel, you can sail directly onto the Zijlroede. From there, you can reach the centre of Lemmer and continue through the Prinses Margriet Lock towards the IJsselmeer.

Head east and you can explore even more of Friesland via waterways including the Prinses Margriet Canal and the Grote Brekken.

Visit beautiful places such as Sloten and Balk, plan a full day on the water or simply find a quiet spot surrounded by lakes, meadows and nature.

The best part? You do not need to get in the car before your boating adventure begins. The water is literally right outside the back door.

Explore Lemmer and Friesland

There is plenty to discover on land too. Lemmer is a lively and atmospheric Frisian watersports village on the IJsselmeer, with inviting terraces, restaurants, shops, a historic centre and, of course, plenty of water.

From Lemstergeluk, you can easily explore the area by bicycle, on foot or by boat. The Frisian lakes, IJsselmeer and characteristic villages and towns of Friesland are all within easy reach.

Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway, a family holiday or a longer stay with friends, Lemstergeluk combines comfort, peace, sunshine and water in one wonderful setting.

Start the morning with coffee beside the water. Spend the day boating, paddleboarding or cycling. Relax in the sunshine in the afternoon. Then finish the day with a barbecue or a cosy evening beside the wood-burning stove.
