Welcome to our holiday home Lemstergeluk in Friesland

The family in question consists of two sisters who grew up in Friesland but later moved to the Randstad region. However, Friesland has always continued to call us back. After more than 30 years away, we have found our way back to Friesland. The house is located at Brekkense Wiel 211 in Lemmer. In 2023, the interior of the house was completely renovated and modernised. It now features new flooring, a new kitchen, a new toilet and a new bathroom.

Modern facilities and comfortable bedrooms

The interior has been designed entirely according to our own taste and standards. There is a very well-equipped kitchen with sharp knives and a wide selection of herbs and spices. The kitchen also includes a large dishwasher, combination microwave oven, extractor hood, luxurious Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother, kettle, and a refrigerator with two freezer compartments. The utility room contains a new washing machine and tumble dryer. Of course, reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The two largest bedrooms are furnished with new box-spring beds (180×210 cm) from the Dutch brand Avek. The smaller bedroom has a bunk bed, suitable for children but also comfortable for adults. All bedrooms are equipped with blackout curtains, fly screens and blinds, ensuring a dark and restful sleeping environment. The bathroom features a toilet with bidet function and a rain shower.

Enjoy extensive entertainment options

Downstairs you will find two original Gelderland sofas and a wood-burning stove that works exceptionally well. Please note: it can become very hot. A new LG Smart TV is mounted on the wall and can be rotated using an arm bracket. Please handle this with care. The television includes all digital channels offered by Ziggo, including Dutch, German and English channels.

In addition, many apps are installed, such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Viaplay, allowing guests to log in with their own subscriptions. You can also stream content from your phone or tablet to the television or play media from a USB stick. There are also two Sonos speakers available, allowing you to stream your own Spotify playlists.

Discover Friesland from the water

The garden faces south and enjoys sunshine throughout the day. There is a large terrace with a spacious wooden table and six chairs (cushions are provided). A large parasol and an awning attached to the house provide shade when needed. In addition, there is a lounge set for four people and a sun lounger for one person. A large Weber Genesis gas barbecue is available and included in the rental price.

A holiday in Lemmer is not complete without experiencing all that Friesland has to offer. You can rent a boat somewhere in Lemmer and moor it at our private 11-metre jetty.

In the shed you will find two SUP boards and an inflatable canoe, which are available for your use. Naturally, there is also a swimming ladder. From Brekkense Wiel, you can sail onto the Sylroede, where boats travel to and from the centre of Lemmer. The Sylroede is a waterway that connects directly to the IJsselmeer via the Prinses Margrietsluis lock in a westerly direction.

Heading east, you can explore Friesland via the Prinses Margriet Canal or the Grote Brekken. From here, you can also discover other beautiful Frisian towns and villages such as Sloten and Balk.
